Enhanced Financial Counseling Certification Program

Train your credit union staff to become more confident in helping members build a stronger financial future. CUNA’s Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP) is designed for credit union staff who work in the financial counseling, collections, and loan departments, or any other staff members who are committed to helping members gain control of their financial future.

This enhanced FiCEP program is being made available to the staff of Pennsylvania credit unions by the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation in partnership with the National Credit Union Foundation, R.E.A.L. Solutions program, and CUNA. In addition to the self-study education materials, this enhanced version of the program includes eight webinars (one per module) which will review the printed materials and add real-life experiences, as well as two in-person meetings which will feature networking, education, and proctored exams.

How Does FiCEP Enhance Your Services?

  • Proven financial counseling skills become a part of your credit union’s culture
  • Written for all staff levels so anyone can offer financial counseling during every member interaction
  • Certification satisfies members’ needs as they continually look for the value of your credit union
  • Differentiates your credit union with certified financial counselors on your team
  • Helps members transform the way they deal with money through real-world counseling

How Does It Work?

Modeled after the CUNA Certified Financial Counselor Schools, FiCEP includes two parts with four learning modules each, and is written for all staff levels so anyone can offer financial counseling during every member interaction. When a participant successfully completes the proctored exams for both parts (eight total modules) they will be a Credit Union Certified Financial Counselor (CCUFC), ready and able to assist your members to reach their financial goals. The sessions will be led by staff from the National Credit Union Foundation.

Education Investment: Your investment is $950 per person. If two students from the same credit union share a set of books, your education investment is $775 per person, plus travel to the two in-person meetings.

All of the webinars will be recorded and available in an archive, so if you are not available to attend a live webinar session, you can still get the information at a time that works for you. There is no additional cost for proctoring of exams.  If you must take them at your credit union rather than as part of the group meetings, an approved proctor must be used. There is a small fee for re-testing.

Deadline to Register is December 11, 2017.
